This tattoo is going to be on my back. I'm in the Marine Corps and our motto is "Always Faithful". I want to get this phrase in mulitple languages but don't want to spend money on courses to learn two words. The languages I need help on Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Irish-Gaelic, Arabic, Norweigen, Swedish, Farsi, Thai, Turkish, Swahili, Hebrew, Polish, Tagalog, Hindi, Ancient Egyptian hierogliphics, Tibetan, Slovak, Finnish, Serbian, Cheyenne, Cherokee, Vietnamese, Yiddish, that's about all I can think of. I would like for you to show me what it looks like so I can draw it out, especially if it's a language that doesn't use the Roman Alphabet, and tell me how to pronounce them please. If you come across any languages of the phrase "Always Faithful" that I did not mention, please do inform me. Thank you very much for your time for reading this.
This should be pretty easy to find on any translation site, but seriously, are you going to fit all that on your back?
Since I had nothing to do, I copy-pasted some of the translations:
Arabic: عَلَى الدَّوَام مِيفاء
Chinese: 總忠實
Danish: altid pålidelig
Dutch: altijd betrouwbaar
Estonian: alati truu
Farsi: همه وقتبا وفا، باايمان.
Finnish: aina uskollinen
French: toujours fidèle
German: immer treu
Greek: πάντα πιστός
Hebrew: תמיד מאמינים
Italian: sempre fedele
Irish: i gcónaí dílis
Japanese: 常に忠実
Korean: 항상 충실한
Latin: semper fidelis
Latvian: arvien drošs
Norwegian: alltid pålitelig
Polish: zawsze wierny
Portuguese: sempre fiel
Russian: всегда точно
Spanish: siempre fiel
Swahili: daima amini
Swedish: alltid pålitlig
Thai: ตลอดเวลา เชื่อถือได้
Turkish: daima sadık
Since I don't speak all those languages (only 5 of them) I'm not totally sure if they really mean what they should, so I guess it would be a good idea to get them checked before you get them permanently on you.

ENGLISH:
Troy.. listen..
I gotta say what’s on my mind.
Something about us doesn’t seem right these days.
Life keeps getting in the way.
BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE:
Agente planeja, a vida vem

SPANISH:
Pero fui a las nubes
y volvi a caer, otra vez
Otro color se hacer gris
Es dificil ver
Que todo aqui
Lento se esfumo
De aqui ya me voy,.
se que es lo mejor que puedo hacer,
CANADIAN FRENCH:
Ne m’en veux pas
Je prends mon envole
”Bye bye”… je décolle
Ma vie n’est plus ici
J’espère que t’as compris
Qu’on pourra peut-être
S’retrouver ailleurs
Mais maintenant, c’est clair
ENGLISH:
I gotta go my own way.
(What about us? What about everything we’ve been through.)
What about trust?
(You know I never wanted to hurt you.)
What about me?
(What am I supposed to do?)
BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE:
É tão difícil partir
(I’ll miss you.)…
Preciso seguir e ser quem eu sou.
(Why do you have to go?)
Não da mais pra fingir

Est-ce que tu le comprends ?
Chacun doit trouver sa place dans la vie
SPANISH:
Al menos por hoy
(I want you to stay)
Por mi camino ire
Tendre que alejarme
y yo misma ser.
(What about us?)
Mi sitio no este,
lo debes entender.
(I’m tryin’ to understand)
Tal vez mi lugar yo encontrare.

Once I did a course aimed at improving my writing skills in English (my native language is Portuguese).
One of the hints of style that I was taught in class was that it was not appropriate to use the same word too many times in a text. It sounded strange to me, for I'm used to reading books in English and once and again I read texts in which a word is used several times, even twice in the same sentence!
This hint of style is appropriate when it comes to Portuguese. But I'm not sure it is actually appropriate for English. Can you help me?
I get what you mean. But those books I talked about were written by famous authors like Virginia Woolf, Henry James, Jane Austen… how can it be?
Thanks for the compliment, Brian. In fact, I work as a journalist in Brazil.
So many good questions… I don't know whom to choose!

repetition of the same word too frequently grates on the ears of native english speakers.
I suggest THE ELEMENTS OF STYLE, a classic handbook for English speaking journalists as a good start for learning to write effectively in English. By the way, you do quite well so far.

I want to teach my daughter (3 months) how to speak portuguese. My husband is from Brazil, and I have just picked it up over the years. So I will try to speak to her only in portuguese, but I also want to use ASL with her. Will I confuse her if I do both? We have been watching Signing time, and of course, that's all in English. Please, no guesses, just answer from experience or know-how only. Thank you so much.
opps….spell check doesn't pick that up…I meant Sign language…not sing .
Do both. Your daughter's ability to absorb languages in her environment is at its peak during her early cognitive development. She will happily absorb multiple languages in different formats. Probably the easiest thing we do is to learn our first language - then, if we delay beyond the formative years, the most difficult thing we do can be to learn our second/subsequent languages. So the next few years are crucial, as you seem to be aware. Further, the social and economic exclusion of Deaf sign language users remains problematic due to the lack of sign language skills amongst the hearing population. Give her every opportunity to use the language centres of her brain by teaching both spoken and visual languages and you'll be supporting both your wee one and potentially Deaf ASL users in the future. Not to mention educating her about the beauty of diversity. A word of caution - signed languages use a different word order to spoken language. In most spoken language the general grammatical order is subject verb object (I go to the shop). In sign, where you are painting a visual picture the grammar runs object subject verb (not rigid, but a general rule), thus shop (I) go. Thus if you are watching programmes (I'm Scottish so not familiar with your US TV) be careful to select programmes in which the language's grammar is correctly demonstrated. Sing and Sign style programmes normally use English word order and are not a true reflection of the wonderful grammatical constructs in signed languages. My advice would be for you to learn the language from an experienced Deaf sign language user and pass on your skills. However during her early years these programmes can be ideal for picking up sign vocabulary - just bear in mind the caveat about sign grammar. She is lucky to have a mum like you. Best wishes on the most exciting journey of your life, motherhood

Please don’t respond if you don’t have an answer to my question. I’m looking for help not giving points out for free. I know its alot of writing…Appreciate any help. I asked this question 20 minutes ago and some rude people posted pointless responses.
Haha….my favorite part. Anyway, I moved from California to Portugal and I’m 16, doing Abroad studying. So there’s another foreigner there, a German girl. Anyway, our first class was Portuguese Language not Maternal (not your first language). And in school here, you have pretty much all classes with the same people. So we became almost insta-friends. And we talk everyday and 15 people or so from our class all hang out as a group. Lunch is 1h30mins. And you can Leave the school when ever you feel like, nothing like America.
So…there’s also this German boy who lives in Portugal, so they became insta-friends as well. Because he speaks portuguese very well as he does German. Today, 1 week and 3 1/2 days after school started, she wasn’t talked to by almost anyone, because they don’t like to speak English. Anyway, today, another boy, “Sundays” is his name, stayed and ate lunch with us. She has never before really talked much to him, just basic hi like everyone else. So we were all (10 people) at lunch at school, and theres 4 benches at one part of the school, I was sitting on a bench with 3 people, (including german boy (whos Bruno), Sundays, me, and her. The Other’s come (3 boys 2 girls). I wanted to sit with on of the other 2 girls.) And one of the boys said scoot over, german girl leaned over and slapped my leg in a playful way and told me to scoot over. I joked around, and said, “fine i get it, im to fat for this bench, so I moved over to the next one, and asked the other 2 girls if they wanted to sit with me.
LOL! (score). Mind you, I find the german girl and one of these girls hot. But I dont/didnt think german girl is interested in me. Then Sundays comes over to my bench, and I say “what!!! you guys kicked me from your bench, go sit on the other one” (this is all playful). Then german girl, suddenly gets up, and goes and sits next to sundays. And so obviously hits on him for 25 minutes. (she never had talked to anyone). I think girls arent this obvious ( i mean she was blushing, opening her legs a little, and touching him. Then we went into the relaxation room, played cards. She sat next to him at one table were some played uno, I stayed with the girl I like and her friend. She was all over him in the room as well, laughing, touching him, leaning over onto him. But I caught her glancing at me every so often.
Then at 3 we all went to Physics, and she was glancing at me alot during the class, I saw it through looking at the teacher speaking, and using side-vision. I never looked directly at her, because I wanted to know why she was looking at me (some kinda of attention). Then me and here had portuguese Language not Maternal. During the lesson, about an hour of it, she was leaning close about 1cm away, I.E. her hairs were on me. The teacher sits about 2-3 feet away from us, and the teacher was reading this paper crooked, so we had to turn our heads awkwards (did she lean just to read the paper?). Then she also has been, (in this lesson today) and always in other classes, rubbed her leg against mine slowly, and also our arms touch alot.(i like it of course). But when she leaned, its like her head was a little below mine, I.E., hard for me not to look at her if looking towards the paper.
Then right after class, unlike usual, she said she had to hurry to catch the bus. 20-seconds after she left, I walked out of the classroom (second story) it takes about a 50 sec walk to the door of the building. She was nowhere to be seen. Everyday after class even at this time in this class, we walked together last time. Ok, what I want to know. Does she really just have sudden interest in Sundays. Or, is because of my asking the other girls to sit with me, and not giving her much attention during lunch, her trying to make me jealous? I talked to Sundays before today, and he thought she was hot. I asked him why he didnt make any move or say anything, and he didnt respond. Could those 25 mins of talking be her and him working together??? Could she maybe like me?
Ok, i think i got the story although im a little confused on the names but in response to your question. i think by showing the other guy affection and looking your way would maybe be a sign that she is trying to see how you would re-act to her actions. and also by how she sits next to you and kinda grazes your arm with hers, etc but just subtle ( not like she was doing with the other guy) seems like she does like you but isnt sure if you like her back so she isnt going way out of her way just incase you dont like her back. but in my opinion, i think she likes you and is giving you little clues that she likes you and now the ball is in your court. just flirt back a little and see how she responds and if its positive then there is your answer! good luck! have fun! sounds like a great place to go to school! best wishes!
